After 7 years, 42 races, 2 pick-up trucks, several thousand burgers and 17 million cable ties, Innerleithen MTB racing are retiring. Some folk are heading to the colonies, some to new business opportunities, and others thinking about setting up a new club Innerleithen Cycle Club.
It’s been a blast - we have met heaps of awesome people, and showed the trails and hot spots of Innerleithen to many welcome ...guests from all over the world. We like to think we helped to make Innerleithen a better place, and yeah its true, we invented Enduro racing in its current and wildly successful form in Scotland.
So take a bow: Steven Deas, Helen Findlay, Dan Darwood, Rich Latimer, Moray Cuthill, Alister Stewart, Duncan Nisbet, Deidre Latimer, Stu Nicholson, Dawn Derbyshire, Martyn Baird (formal committee members), Brian Swinton, James Knowles, Matt Hardie, Scott Gourlay, Paul Newnham, Trevor Williams and Crawford Carrick-Anderson.
Not forgetting the hundreds of marshals, helpers and the various sponsors including Alpine Bikes, I-Cycles, Grease Monkey, Event Scotland, Scottish Borders Council, Scottish Cycling, Mackay’s Furniture, Ridelines, The Stanes Innerleithen and Vattenfall. Thank you !
KICC (the kids club) has been a runaway success in its own right and one which we hope will continue to grow, glad we could be part of this.
So a massive massive thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years and been part of the races, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and will continue to come to race and ride bikes here in Innerleithen.
The Innerleithen MTB Racing Committee.
